Thailand isn’t What You Think

Thailand isn’t What You Think. Many Thais who study or work abroad often find themselves puzzled by some questions foreigners like to ask. Here are 6 questions that leave Thai people both confused and amused.

Thailand isn’t What You Think

🧘‍♀️ 1. Do you meditate all the time because you’re Buddhist?

Not all the time—just sometimes for peace of mind (or when the Wi-Fi is down).
But hey, meditation is now popular worldwide. There are even global meditation classes inspired by Thai traditions.

🧤 2. Do you eat with your hands or chopsticks?

We mostly use a spoon and fork. Chopsticks are for noodles, hands for sticky rice.
And if you’re visiting Thailand—don’t forget to wash your hands before eating sticky rice!

🛺 3. Do you still use tuk-tuks everywhere?

Not everywhere, but they’re a fun ride for tourists. Tuk-tuks are now considered Thai soft power—appearing in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun. We’re happy you’ve heard of Tuk Tuk Thailand. Thailand Isn’t What You Think!

No. Elephants are protected by law.
If anyone wants to own one, they must go through serious legal procedures and be licensed.

🦁 6. Are there tigers walking around in Thailand?

Not in cities! Tigers live in national parks and the wild.
But if you want to see one safely, visit a safari zoo—you can even drive through it.
