Sai Scott
A Thai marine conservationist named Sai Scott, a Thai man who loves the sea with all his heart.
Khun Sai used to serve as an advisor to the Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation.
He was recently dismissed from his position due to his strictness in working with tourists who violated marine tourism regulations.
Sai Scott (Who is he?)
The young man nicknamed “Mermaid Man” is an heir to a famous family who has dedicated his life to the Thai seas.
He announced the end of his role as “Advisor to the Director-General of the National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department” due to news issues that occurred in Thailand.
He is half Thai and half Scottish. He is currently 28 years old. He is a sea lover, swimmer, and marine conservationist in the South.
Ms. Sai founded the “Sea You Strong” project, which is a group of marine conservationists who carry out various activities to conserve the ocean.
One thing Sai said is, “In the 4 years I have worked with the park, I have not asked for a single baht…”
I am not the owner of the sea, but I am someone who knows how to conserve and protect the sea sustainably. I dare to do it for the public.
Breaking news
I’ll tell you the story of what happened in brief. This is now a major drama, big news in Thailand.
I will tell you briefly according to the clip I saw. I have a video clip of the incident for you to see.
The clip was released, causing two opinions. What do you think after watching the clip?
1. Support Mr. Sai because a foreigner (male) used the Chinese greeting “Hello” (“你好”) with a Thai officer and laughed. Do you think this behavior is appropriate?
Supporters believe that if tourists are warned by park officials, they should listen. If you have any questions, you should ask so that you can understand.
Since you are visiting Thailand, visiting the Thai sea, why do you greet the officials with Chinese words? (This is what many people wonder about.)
Does that tourist think that Thai people are kind and therefore disrespect the park officials?
Mr. Sai warned tourists that because they were in the wrong, the wrongdoers should listen and strictly follow the rules.
2. The dissenting side said that Mr. Sai was too strict, making tourists dislike him.
Tourism operators fear that excessive strictness will cost them revenue and discourage tourists from visiting.
Mr. Sai made a clip that seemed to criticize the tour guide and the tour boat, which damaged their reputation.
Everyone loves the sea. It’s not just you, Sai, who loves the sea. But the guides and sea tourism operators don’t come out to make content shows about this like you do.
The issue that caused the news was because the foreigner had a look of contempt for the Thai officer (Mr. Sai Scott).
In addition, he used bad manners and words towards the officer and did not admit his mistake.
