This Field Has a Story to Tell 1 :Every step is a learning journey.

Introduction: Today, the Field Is Not at School

Today, I took my Kindergarten 3/5 students on a long walk.
The total distance was around 2 kilometers.

These children are working on a Project Approach about the sea,
so their homeroom teacher brought them to a real learning site:
Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center, Chanthaburi Province.

As for me…
I was the physical education teacher on this trip,
responsible for supporting the children
and making sure they could walk all the way safely.

After finishing activities at the learning center,
I led the children along the beach
toward Kung Krabaen Bay Aquarium (KKB Aquarium).

They walked while watching the fish.
They walked and smiled.
They walked around the aquarium again… and again.

Little cheerful voices echoed along the walkway—
the kind of sound that tells you immediately:
these children were truly happy.

Tiny Volunteers on a Big Mission

The fun didn’t stop there.

The children took part in a volunteer activity,
helping collect trash along Laem Sadet Beach.

After that,
I led everyone on a longer walk toward the back parking area,
where we found:

  • a Rusa deer breeding center

  • sheep

  • ducks.

The children ran around happily, watching the deer.
Sweat appeared,
cheeks turned bright red,
lined up like little cherry tomatoes.

A Mangrove Adventure We Didn’t Plan

Next,
I guided the children back to
Kung Krabaen Bay Mangrove Forest Nature Study Center.

The original plan was simple:
👉 rest, eat snacks, drink water, and head home.

But the children had other ideas.

In small excited voices, they said together:

“Teacher, we want to keep walking!
No matter how far—we’re not tired!”

And just like that,
our mangrove forest adventure began.

“Alright, everyone!
Teacher Poom will be your guide.
Don’t worry—we won’t get lost.”

The children laughed and giggled
and walked on together.

This Field Has a Story to Tell 1 :No Mudskippers, No Monkeys—But Plenty of Happiness

Inside the mangrove forest,
a gentle breeze blew,
sunlight filtered softly through the trees.

The children carefully searched for mudskippers near the mangrove roots,
but the tide was high that day.
No mud, no puddles—
and no mudskippers appeared.

So the mission changed
from “mudskippers”
to “monkeys.”

Soon, little eyes were looking up at mangrove and apple mangrove trees,
not at the wooden walkway.

As a PE teacher,
I started to worry—
afraid someone might slip into the water.

So I quickly adjusted the plan
and invited the children to:

  • look for fiddler crabs among the rocks,

  • and observe small fish instead.

Thankfully, the children trusted their teacher.
They focused on the new mission
and had just as much fun.

When a PE Teacher Can’t Help Teaching Along the Way

The spirit of physical education is always flowing in me.

When I noticed the children starting to feel tired,
I couldn’t help but explain:

Walking
is one of the best activities for kindergarten children,
yet it doesn’t happen often at school
because it takes time.

But in reality,
walking is the simplest form of exercise.

No equipment needed—
just one good pair of shoes.

Walking helps children:

  • develop spatial awareness,

  • gain confidence in movement,

  • build an active and healthy lifestyle.

Today’s long walk showed us their personalities clearly.
Children love walking—
and walking with friends makes it even more fun.

They learned to:

  • observe their surroundings,

  • interact with other children and adults,

  • and practice social skills naturally.

Most importantly,
walking longer than usual helped the children feel calm, happy,
and more focused.

When I finished explaining,
the children nodded—
as if they truly understood.

Time to Say Goodbye

Eventually,
it was time to head home.

The vans arrived to pick up the children.

“See you back at school, everyone.”

Today, this field didn’t just teach walking.
It taught happiness, patience, and learning along the way.

And I believe that
this field
still has many more stories to tell—
waiting for us to walk and discover together 🌿
